Renfrewshire Effort to
Empower Minorities (REEM) has been serving the Renfrewshire since
2011; especially the BME community.
On a day-to-day basis, REEM
carries out activities aimed at bridging the gap between ethnic minority
communities and the wider community, including;
i.Providing information and
guidance to people new to Renfrewshire in particular and the UK in general, so
as to improve their participation in civic and community matters
ii.Provide guidance and
support about UK culture, lifestyle and regulations as one moves through the
stages of settling in Renfrewshire
iii.Organising workshops and
training days; including career and employability training, entrepreneurship
and business management training, health awareness workshops, workshops for various
groups such as youths and parents, etc
iv. Organising community
classes such as ESOL,
v.Encouraging and creating
opportunities for volunteering as a training platform
vi.REEM also organises
activities and community events that encourage self-expression and celebration
of diversity in Renfrewshire.
